Getting to know you: Identity & Personality
🧠 Personality
🎭 Identity
💬 Speaking Skills

ICE BREAKERS & SELF-INTRODUCTION
The lesson opens with activities that help learners describe their identity, personality, and life experiences. Students create true/false statements about themselves and discuss habits, beliefs, and personal traits in pairs.
VIDEO & LISTENING ABOUT PERSONALITY
Learners watch a video on introverts and extroverts, then answer comprehension questions. A listening task explores how identity changes over time, guiding students to analyse statements and reflect on how mood and environment shape self-expression.
READING: SURROUNDED BY IDIOTS
Students read an adapted text about Thomas Erikson’s bestseller Surrounded by Idiots and learn about the four colour-based personality types: red, yellow, green, and blue. The text helps them understand communication differences, behaviour patterns, and why people sometimes clash.
DISCUSSION, SPEAKING & HOME TASKS
Learners discuss which colour describes them, analyse conflicts through personality types, and reflect on how behaviour changes in different social settings. Homework includes matching traits to personality colours and summarising key insights from the lesson.
